Six to Nine Months: First-Time Injectables

Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Anti-wrinkle injections smooth dynamic facial lines by blocking the signals from nerves to overactive muscles. If you’re planning to try this treatment for the first time, don’t wait too late to start. It’s best to have your first treatment six to nine months before your wedding so it has time to wear off if you don’t like the results. Most patients who get anti-wrinkle injections regularly have them done every three to four months, so this timeline leaves plenty of room for a touch-up treatment before the big day if you love your refreshed and youthful complexion.

Dermal Fillers

We recommend a similar timeline for first-time dermal fillers. This allows you to assess how you like the results and leaves time for touch-ups or tweaks to ensure you’re happy with your appearance. Trying fillers in advance also leaves time for the filler to break down or be dissolved by Dr Khinda if you decide it’s not for you.

Three to Six Months: Progressive Treatments

Chemical Peels

Medical-grade chemical peels excel at minimising skin imperfections and restoring health to the dermis. Peels are classified by the depth of treatment: extra light, superficial, medium and deep. The deeper the peel, the more dramatic the results but the more downtime it requires. Plan your pre-wedding peel regimen accordingly. A series of lighter peels scheduled once per month can achieve the same aesthetic benefits as a deep peel, with less irritation, fewer risks and little to no downtime.

Omnilux

LED therapy with Omnilux uses different light wavelengths to address a range of cosmetic and medical skin concerns, including wrinkles, acne, rosacea and pigmentation. Each treatment delivers short-term complexion improvements. Over time, if you complete a series of Omnilux treatments, the light therapy can enhance the production of collagen, elastin and growth factors for deeper improvements in skin clarity, texture and tone.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a noninvasive procedure that removes dead skin cells and debris from the skin surface to produce a cleaner, clearer and brighter complexion. The process of exfoliation also improves mild imperfections and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin. Microdermabrasion offers immediate, subtle results that can be enhanced with subsequent sessions in the months before your wedding day.

Microneedling

Professional microneedling offers a deeper level of resurfacing than dermarollers to even out skin tone and achieve a radiant complexion. Dr Khinda offers microneedling treatments with the Dermapen and an advanced treatment called Dermafrac, which combines microneedling with microdermabrasion and the infusion of targeted serums. The positive effects of microneedling treatments are cumulative. We recommend repeating Dermapen or Dermafrac every four to six weeks until you achieve the wedding-worthy results you’re looking for.

One to Three Months: Touch-Ups

In the last few months of your wedding countdown, focus on treatments you have already received. This is not the right time to introduce new treatments that may have unexpected side effects or unpredictable results into your routine. Use this window to top-up your injections or have the final treatment in a series done. This leaves ample time for any post-treatment effects like swelling, bruising or redness to fade, and for the final results of your treatment to settle in before the big day.

One Month: Final Refresh

Stick to the lightest treatments in your regimen during the home stretch. With one month to go, you may have time to fit in a last anti-wrinkle or filler session, provided you leave two to three weeks for any swelling to go down and the product to provide optimal results. This may also be a good time to have a hyperhidrosis treatment if you’re concerned about excessive sweating during your wedding day. Only extremely gentle treatments, such as Omnilux, should be considered in the last week or two before your wedding.
