My Personal Approach to Ageing & Skin Health

At a glance:

Ageing well is not about erasing lines, but supporting skin health, resilience and function over time. Through a regenerative, evidence based approach, we focus on collagen stimulation, skin longevity and personalised care - helping you look refreshed, natural and confident at every stage of life

Dr Parvin Khinda on ageing well, skin health, and longevity

As an aesthetic doctor, I spend a great deal of time thinking about ageing- how skin changes, why it changes, and how best to support it over time.

I’m also navigating midlife myself, which has naturally shaped how I approach ageing and skin health- with curiosity, perspective, and respect for the body’s complexity.

For me, ageing well is not about trying to look younger or erasing change.  It’s about understanding what’s happening, supporting the body intelligently, and making choices that allow you to feel well, confident, and comfortable in your skin at every stage of life.

What ageing well really means

Ageing is not something that happens only on the surface of the skin. It is influenced by a combination of:

  • Hormonal changes
  • Stress and nervous system load
  • Nutrition and metabolic health
  • Sleep quality
  • Muscle mass and physical activity
  • Inflammation and recovery
  • Environmental exposures

Skin is often the most visible reflection of what is happening internally.  That’s why a meaningful approach to ageing can’t rely on isolated treatments alone — it requires a broader, more integrated view.

Skin health across life stages — including menopause

Skin changes occur across the lifespan, and the timing and pattern are different for everyone.

For some people, changes are gradual. For others, they become more noticeable during periods of transition- such as perimenopause and menopause, when shifts in hormones may affect collagen density, hydration, elasticity, and skin resilience.

This does not mean that ageing is “accelerating” or that something is wrong- it reflects normal biology.

Importantly, this approach is not limited to women or midlife.  Men, younger patients, and those focused on prevention can benefit just as much from a strategy that supports skin health early and adapts over time.

The focus remains the same: supporting skin function in a way that is appropriate for the individual and their stage of life.

Longevity principles and skin health

My interest in ageing well is closely aligned with the principles of longevity medicine.

This includes attention to:

  • Nutrition: to support metabolic and skin health
  • Exercise:  particularly resistance training, to support muscle, bone, and insulin sensitivity
  • Stress management:  recognising the impact of chronic stress on inflammation and skin ageing
  • Sleep:  which is essential for repair, hormonal balance, and recovery

Aesthetic treatments work best when they sit alongside these foundations — not in isolation from them.

How this philosophy shapes what we do at Kaya Cosmedica

At Kaya Cosmedica, our focus is on optimisation rather than transformation.

From a skin perspective, this may include:

  • Medical grade skincare tailored to age, skin type, and life stage
  • Skincare strategies adapted for hormonally influenced skin, including menopause
  • Regenerative treatments that support collagen and skin quality over time
  • Thoughtful, staged treatment planning rather than reactive or trend driven interventions

The aim is always the same: natural-looking outcomes where you look like a fresher, healthier version of yourself- not a different person.

A note on natural aesthetics

Natural aesthetics doesn’t mean doing nothing.
It means doing what is appropriate, at the right time, and for the right reasons.

When treatments are chosen thoughtfully:

  • Facial expression is preserved
  • Identity remains intact
  • Changes appear subtle and balanced
  • Results tend to age more gracefully over time

Who this approach resonates with

This approach often resonates with people who:

  • Want to age well rather than chase youth
  • Value education and medical guidance
  • Prefer subtle, cumulative results
  • Are interested in long term skin health and longevity
  • Appreciate a whole person perspective

That includes women, men, younger patients, and those navigating midlife change.
